Formerly in the possession of Empress Elisabeth of Austria, an Imperial presentation set of twelve Hutschenreuther porcelain plates
circa 1890
each painted in the Munich studio of Franz Xavier Thallmaier with topographical views of Bavarian residences, towns and vistas, each named in black script to the reverse, within gilt tooled well below a border reserved with the crowned imperial monogram, below a shaped rim

Empress Elisabeth of Austria, a gift from Emperor Francis Joseph I at Bad Ischl;
Archduchess Marie Valerie, thence by descent.
The present set was commissioned by Emperor Franz Joseph I for Empress consort Elisabeth, no doubt intended as a reminder of her youth in Bavaria. The service includes contemporary views of Royal Bavarian residences, namely the New Palace at Schleissheim, the Imperial Castle, Nuremberg, the garden façade of the new Royal Palace at Herrechiemsee, Garatshausen Castle, and views of the Hintersee near Berchtesgaden, Lindau Harbour, Isle of Frauenchiemsee, Lake Chiemsee, Traunstein, Obersee, Alpsee in Hohenschwangau, Lindau on Lake Constance and Berchtesgaden before the Watzmann. The service was kept at the summer residence of Villa Ischl in Upper Austria.
