Sotheby’s is proud to present this Spalding basketball attributed to Paul Pierce on January 10, 2006 when the Boston Celtics played the Atlanta Hawks. During this game, Pierce would score his 13,000th career point.
Pierce finished with 27 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. The Celtics beat the Raptors, 98-94.
Drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 10th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, Pierce quickly emerged as the face of the franchise. His scoring prowess, versatile skill set, and clutch performances earned him the nickname "The Truth." Paired with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, Pierce played a pivotal role in the Celtics' resurgence, leading the team to an NBA Championship in 2008. His Finals MVP performance solidified his status as one of the game's greats.
