The Loverdos Collection of Icons

This icon would originally have been a part of a set of three panels, with Christ and John the Baptist, forming a Deisis.

For a similar icon also attributed to Lambardos, see Y. Petsopoulos et al., East Christian Art, London, 1987, catalogue number 61. Typical of the work of Lambardos is the clean cut-off of the subject matter on the edges of the panel.
