Patek Philippe’s Nautilus is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable watches in the world, and in recent years has cemented its status as a true icon of luxury and elegance. Designed by the equally legendary Gerald Genta, the original 1976 model played an important role in rescuing the Swiss watchmaking industry from the Quartz threat of the period.

The reference 5711 was the most recent execution of the time-only Nautilus in the original stainless steel, and is nearly identical to the original reference 3700. As this format is no longer available in the current Patek Philippe catalogue, the reference has gained even more attention since its discontinuation in 2022. However, the present example is made even more special for two reasons: the dial colour and condition.

The dial on this example is rendered in a crisp white colour, making it stand out from the usual format of dark blue or grey coloured dials. This configuration was discontinued even earlier than the reference 5711 itself, in 2018, making these dials rarer than other colours of the reference which were produced for the full run. Furthermore, the present watch is being offered in service sealed condition, indicating that it has never been handled or worn since it returned from an overhaul at Patek Philippe in 2018.

The Nautilus is, by itself, an icon and a treasure fit for any collection. This lot features the landmark and discontinued reference 5711, fitted with more scarce white dial, in factory sealed condition. These factors are sure to excite all collectors and connoisseurs.
