Sculpteur et designer américain, Paul Evans (1931-1987) est un artiste emblématique de l'American Craft Movement des années 1970. La collaboration entre Paul Evans et Philip Lloyd Powell débute en 1957. Ce dernier poussera Evans à utiliser de nouveaux métaux tel que le laiton, le cuivre et le fer dans ses créations.

Il résultera de cette collaboration des pièces uniques constituées de métaux sculptés et de bois, telle que la table que nous présentons ici.

Powell parlera plus tard de son partenariat avec Evans en écrivant : "Paul m'a aidé à affiner mes conceptions techniques, car il avait une formation artistique, et en retour, j'ai transformé son art en meubles... "¹

American sculptor and designer, Paul Evans (1931-1987) is an artist emblematic of the American Craft Movement of the 1970s. The collaboration between Paul Evans and Philip Lloyd Powell began in 1957. The latter will push Evans to use new metals such as brass, copper and iron in his creations.

This collaboration resulted in unique pieces made of sculpted metals and wood, such as the table presented here.

Powell would later speak of his partnership with Evans, writing, "Paul helped me refine my technical designs, as he had an artistic background, and in return I turned his art into furniture... "¹
