Twelve years after the debut of the original Royal Oak Offshore, Audemars Piguet introduced the Safari as part of a new generation of Offshore chronographs, alongside the Navy, Black, and Silver Themes. Among these, the Safari stood out not only for its distinctive ivory-toned dial and rugged aesthetic, but also as the only version originally paired with an alligator hornback strap, adding an element of bold sophistication.
Throughout its production, the Safari underwent a few refinements. Early models (pre-2007) were powered by the caliber 2226/2840, before AP transitioned to the in-house caliber 3120. Alongside this movement upgrade came a functional update across the Offshore line: a new anti-reflective coated magnifying lens over the date aperture, improving legibility and enhancing the watch’s technical appeal.
Despite its adventurous styling, the Safari remains one of the more restrained and versatile iterations within the Offshore collection, offering both presence and polish on the wrist.
The present example is offered in beautiful condition, a fine opportunity to acquire a well-regarded classic from the Royal Oak Offshore legacy.
