Audemars Piguet

Audemars Piguet was established in Le Brassus, Switzerland, in 1881, and its distinguished history is marked by the creation of some of the most important complications and designs in watchmaking. Remarkably, it remains one of the few manufactures still in the hands of its founding families. While celebrated today for the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet has long been admired for its refined dress watches and technical mastery.

The present lot, affectionately known to collectors as the “Cioccolatone” for its distinctive rounded rectangular form, features a stepped 18k yellow gold case measuring approximately 29 x 33 mm. Dating to the early 1950s, it houses a manually wound movement operated by a recessed crown at 3 o’clock. The case back is stamped with the Geneva Key 1 hallmark, denoting production by the renowned casemaker Wenger. With its balanced proportions, elegant geometry, and superb craftsmanship, this piece exemplifies the discreet sophistication of mid-century Audemars Piguet design.
