A whimsical and sophisticated interpretation of the lunar complication, the Hermès Arceau L’Heure de la Lune is one of the most imaginative contemporary designs of astronomical wristwatch. Introduced in 2019, the model reimagines the traditional moonphase display through an ingenious mechanism: two lacquered mother-of-pearl discs—depicting the Moon as seen from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres—rotate beneath the main dials, revealing the lunar phase through a sculpted aperture. The off-centered dial layout, a signature of the Arceau collection originally designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978, provides a perfect canvas for this celestial display. Crafted in either white gold, rose gold, or platinum depending on the variant, the case measures 43 mm in diameter and features the distinctive asymmetrical stirrup-shaped lugs emblematic of the Arceau line.
At its heart is the automatic caliber H1837, based on a Vaucher movement and enhanced with a proprietary lunar module developed specifically for Hermès.
In this execution, the main dial is in blue aventurine which contrast beautifully against the white metal case and white displaying hours, minutes and the date, and is numbered No4 of a limited edition of only 100 examples.
