A Meissen Silver-Gilt-Mounted Teabowl and Saucer, Circa 1723


painted in the Höroldt chinoiserie style, the teabowl with a vignette of a seated figures before a smouldering censer, the saucer with two figures fanning away a stag beetle, both within gilt shaped-quatrefoil cartouches, the edges enclosing Böttger lustre sections, issuing iron-red scrolling foliage shaded with lustre, within borders of gilt scrolls, the back of the teabowl with training flowering prunus above insects, gilt numeral 51., traces of inventory number in black

the saucer 4 7/8 in., 12.4 cm diameter, 2.6 cm. high; the teabowl 4.5 cm. high, 7.4 cm. diameter
