This watercolor memorializes the younger siblings of Lydia Maxcy Daggett (1802-1882) of Attleboro, Massachusetts, who went on to marry Capron Peck in 1824 and had twelve children of her own, eight of whom died in infancy and childhood. The First Baptist Church in the nearby town of Providence, Rhode Island is visible in the background in this scene behind the mourning Lydia Daggett.
