Comprenant une broche, une paire de pendants d'oreille et un collier ornés de médaillons de micro-mosaïque sur fond de verre noir, représentant des vues de la Rome Antique, dimensions broche 40 x 35 mm environ, longueur pendants d'oreille 70 mm environ, longueur du collier 580 mm environ, poinçons français d'import pour l'or 18K (750°/00) et l'or 14K (585°/00), poids brut total 213.78 g, écrin d'origine, 19ème siècle.
Comprising a brooch, a pair of pendent earrings, a necklace, ornated with micromosaic medallions on black glass background, depicting views of Antique Rome, brooch measuring approximately 40 x 35mm, pendants length approximately 70mm, necklace length approximately 580mm, French import assay marks for 18 carat and 14 carat gold, combined gross weight 213.78 grams, fitted case, 19th century.
Micromosaics are a superb example of a craftsman's skill to create a miniature work of art. The fragments of glass which compose them are known as tesserae.
