NIKE, NIKE AIR JORDAN IV, SIZE 15
Rubber, Leather, Cotton
2008
A member of the famed 2003 NBA Draft class alongside LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony earned a reputation as one of the NBA’s all-time greatest scorers during his 20-year career.
Ranked 10th on the NBA’s All-Time Scoring leaderboard with 28,289 points, Anthony won the 2013 NBA Scoring Title as a member of the New York Knicks. Melo put on numerous electric performances at Madison Square Garden – The Basketball ‘Mecca’ – during his stint as the face of the Knicks from 2011-2017.
The Air Jordan 4 (IV) is one of the most popular models in the Air Jordan lineage. First debuted at the 1989 NBA All-Star Game, and designed by Nike legend Tinker Hatfield, it was the first global release for the Jordan Brand. The silhouette immediately turned heads, due to its mid-cut, visible air unit, mesh side panels, and iconic ‘wings’ which allowed the wearer 18 different lacing options.
While the on-court presence of the model was iconic, off the court, the Air Jordan IV’s presence was just as strong. The Air Jordan IV continues to be a fan favorite for collectors, and a popular silhouette for notable collaborators including Spike Lee, Eminem, Travis Scott, and Undefeated.
In 2008, Carmelo Anthony played a key role on the 2008 USA Basketball Team. Dubbed the “Redeem Team”, this group of NBA stars undertook the mission of restoring the reputation of USA Basketball, following a disappointing performance in the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
The Carmelo Anthony Nike Air Jordan 4 "Olympic" Sample commemorates this moment in Anthony’s career. Dressed in a predominantly laser blue leather upper, this Carmelo Anthony Nike Air Jordan 4 "Olympic" Laser Sample features patriotic, red, and white accents throughout. Noteworthy details include the USA Basketball branded tongue tags, American flags on the insole, and the significant date of the Olympics' commencement, August 8th, 2008. This design, reminiscent of the 'Laser Pack' from 2005, serves as a tribute to Anthony's contribution to reclaiming the gold for the USA. Incredibly rare, this pair was never released to the public.
