Throughout his 19-year career, Paul Pierce cemented himself as a Hall of Famer and Boston Celtics legend. Drafted in 1998 with the 10th overall pick, Pierce made his presence known early, earning All-NBA Rookie 1st Team honors.
During his 15 seasons in Boston, Pierce served as the face of the Celtics. In 2001, after scoring 42 points against the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, Pierce earned the nickname “The Truth” courtesy of Shaquille O’Neal. In 2002, Pierce led the Celtics back to the playoffs for the first time since the 1994-1995 season.
Pierce’s crowning achievement came in 2008. As part of the newly formed “Big Three”, with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, Pierce led the Celtics to an NBA championship, the 17th in franchise history and first since 1986, and earned NBA Finals MVP.
A 10-time All-Star, Pierce ranks top 10 in points, rebounds, assists, and blocks for the Celtics. He also leads the Celtics all-time in steals.
In 2013, Pierce was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. He would later play for the Washington Wizards, before ending his career with the Los Angeles Clippers.
In 2021, Pierce was inducted into the Hall of Fame, and in 2022 was named a member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team. Pierce finished with career averages of 19.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
