These sneakers were worn by Kobe Bryant on March 4th, 2011 when the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Charlotte Bobcats, 92-84. Bryant recorded 27 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The sneakers are accompanied by a Letter of Provenance from the consignor, outlining his father’s experience obtaining the shoes, and signatures, directly from Bryant after the game.
Sotheby’s has obtained additional documentation from the consignor, including email correspondence from March 5th, 2011, which included a photo of the consignor’s father and Bryant, with the same style sneakers, as well as information on the meeting, where the shoes were obtained.
The sneakers have been photomatched by Sports Investors Authentication, and are accompanied by a letter from James Spence in regard to the signatures.
An embodiment of the competitive spirit, it was Bryant’s ability to attack each game with an unparalleled desire to win that made him one of this generation’s greatest. When Kobe retired in 2016, he did so as a 5-time NBA champion, a league MVP, a 2-time scoring champion and a 12-time All-Defensive team selection. A complete player and an ambassador of the game, Bryant was the face of the Los Angeles Lakers and one of the biggest names in the NBA during his 20-year career.
