In 2013, a super, smoky, peaty nose that is just so generous and opulent. Lots of blackcurrant in there with some liquorice too. So youthful and fresh, together with the richness. Big structure and a keeper although it has that alluring Haut Brion softness. Long finish. A superb wine. Serena Sutcliffe, MW

Provenance:

An extraordinary collection of Château Haut Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion, spanning vintages from 1966 through 2005 and offered in an impressive range of formats, from bottles to double magnums.

Belonging to a distinguished French aristocratic family, all bottles were sourced directly from the Chateaux and cellared in the underground vaulted cellar of the family castle ever since.

The consistently high humidity of the cellar preserved corks and fill levels to perfection, though labels naturally suffered over time. In preparation for this auction, and in recognition of the collection’s prestigious and impeccable provenance, all bottles were shipped in refrigerated truck to Domaine Clarence Dillon in June 2025, where they were exceptionally reconditioned with new labels and repacked into new, pristine original wooden cases.

Une collection d’exception de Château Haut-Brion et Château La Mission Haut-Brion, couvrant les millésimes de 1966 à 2005 et proposée dans une remarquable diversité de formats, de la bouteille au double magnum.

Issue d’une illustre famille aristocratique française, l’ensemble a été acquis directement auprès des Châteaux et conservé depuis dans le caves voûtée du château familial.

L’humidité constante de cette cave a permis de préserver parfaitement les niveaux et l’étanchéité des bouchons, bien que les étiquettes aient naturellement subi les effets du temps. En préparation de cette vente, et en hommage à la provenance prestigieuse et irréprochable de la collection, tous les flacons ont été transportés en camion réfrigéré jusqu’au Domaine Clarence Dillon en juin 2025, où ils ont été exceptionnellement reconditionnés avec de nouvelles étiquettes et dans des caisses bois d’origine neuves et immaculées.
