Description

Château Mouton Rothschild 1989

Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé

Excellent level, torn label, packed in plain carton inside of owc; Excellent niveau, étiquette déchirée, emballé dans un carton neutre à l'intérieur de l'owc

Label Artist: Georg Baselitz

Cabernet Sauvignon 78%, Cabernet Franc 14%, Merlot 8%. The Merlot was picked from 6 September and the Cabernet between 16 and 25 September, the earliest vintage at Mouton. In 2023, an incredibly rich, heathery nose, with cassis impact and breed - and all at 12.5%! On the palate, the sheer impact is extraordinary, welcoming and warm. So fresh, especially for such a hot year. Flavours of damsons and brambles. The magnums have a thicker, velvety feel in the mouth, but the sensual imprint is the same. Watch out for the mocha finish. Serena Sutcliffe, MW

1 imperial - 6 litres (owc)

Provenance:

A rare Bordeaux collection centered on Château Mouton Rothschild, enriched by mature treasures including Petrus and Château d’Yquem. Recently removed from the underground cellar of a family house in Continental Europe, where all bottles have been stored since purchased for the most reputable European Wine Merchants. The crown jewels are four venerable vintages of Lafite—1914, 1934, 1942 and 1948— all authenticated by Sotheby’s specialists, offering collectors a rare glimpse into more than a century of the estate’s history.
