A cloisonné enamel vase
Attributed to Hayashi Kodenji (1831-1915)
Meiji period, late 19th century
of tapering form with a wide ring to the neck, decorated in coloured cloisonné enamels and worked in various thicknesses of silver wire, with tree peonies and magnolia on a deep blue enamel ground, the petals in thick yusen with the leaves and petals in superb shaded (bokashi) enamels, the foot with a band of lappets, unsigned but attributed to Hayashi Kodenji (1831-1915)
