Description
THE LITTLE MERMAID
A set of two re-created production maquettes comprised of resin, paint, and metal, fabricated in 1989.
“Ariel” maquette measuring 8 in tall and 6 in wide, on oval base with measuring approx. 7.5 x 6.5 in.
“Sebastian” maquette measuring 5.25 in tall and 6 in wide, on oval base measuring approx. 8.5 x 6.5 in
The present lot—maquettes of the iconic characters “Ariel” and “Sebastian” from Disney’s The Little Mermaid—were recreated by the Walt Disney Animation Research Library using the same design as maquettes created for the production.
One maquette depicts Ariel sitting on rock in a familiar pose from the film, while the other depicts a laughing Sebastian with an outstretched claw, in another pose from Disney’s beloved feature.
