Description

NIKE, NIKE AIR FORCE 1, SIZE 13

Rubber, Leather, Cotton, Synthetic

2017

During the 2017 pop-culture festival ComplexCon, DJ and frequent Nike collaborator, DJ Clark Kent, unveiled an ultra-rare and highly sought-after Friends & Family Air Force 1. Despite drumming up keen public interest, this style never saw a release and has remained elusive due to its rarity, especially in deadstock condition.

Dressed with a white pony-fur upper, atop a white midsole and a gum outsole, the pair uses a white leather beneath the Swoosh and seams to provide a material contrast. The pair also comes with white leather laces and special embroideries on the heel, which read ‘GOT THAT’ and ‘WHITE’ on the left and right, respectively. Additionally, with embroidery on the tongues, the pair prompts the wearer to ‘STAY FRESH.’

Exceptionally rare, this lot is offered with a DJ Clark Kent signed and inscribed box. The lot is accompanied by a letter from James Spence in regards to the signature and inscription.

The Air Force 1, arguably Nike’s most iconic sneaker, is, in many regards, the first of its kind. Previously realized in running shoes, the introduction of Nike’s ‘Air’ technology in the midsole was a revolutionary concept for basketball sneakers. Tasked with bringing the concept to life, designer Bruce Kilgore and an aerospace engineer brought the project to fruition with a hiking boot-inspired, ankle-strapped, high-top. Kilgore’s first basketball sneaker, the Air Force 1, was brought to market in 1982.
