This painting is a slightly reduced replica of Van Dyck's celebrated canvas depicting the three eldest children of King Charles I (1600–1649) in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.1 The popularity of this composition is attested by numerous copies and studio replicas recorded in public and private collections.2
