Gladwin | from Manning Coles | 4/3/40") on front free endpaper, original blue cloth lettered in black, DUST-JACKET, binding very slightly skewed and soiled, tear to head of spine, soiled dust-jacket frayed and with loss and tears, some repairs on reverse;
Pray Silence. London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1940, FIRST EDITION, original blue cloth lettered in black, DUST-JACKET, ownership signature to front free endpaper, browning to endpapers, some soiling and fading to binding, slightly soiled dust-jacket frayed at extremities with repairs to reverse
The first two novels by "Manning Coles", a pseudonym for Cyril Coles (1899-1965) and Adelaide Manning (d. 1959), featuring Tommy Hambledon of the British Intelligence Service.
