The compendium, which bears the name “Halpern” on one side above a slip of decorated parchment with the calligraphed initials “A.H.” (Abraham Halpern), includes: a dreidel, a Seder dish with six basins, a wedding ring, a spice tower (inscribed “Jerusalem” within the door), a basin for washing one’s hands at the end of the meal (mayim aharonim), the book of Psalms in Hebrew and English (Tel Aviv: Sinai Publishing, 1999), a charity box with two compartments (one for general charity and the second for funding weddings/dowering brides), an Omer calendar, a Havdalah compendium (inscribed “Jerusalem” at the base), a Kiddush cup, six miniature beakers, a compass to help determine prayer orientation, a clock for prayer times, a key for the clock, a salt dish with spoon, and a Hanukkah lamp (inscribed “These candles are holy”) with a servant light and a small decanter for oil.
