chased throughout with dense roses and buds on matted grounds, the shoulders applied with inscribed shields backed by crowned double eagles, acorn finial, rising from spreading acorns and oak laves, the silver partly backed by copper panels, engraved with Hebrew inscriptions, marked at base of upper crown, and on one shield Josef and 12
Height: 15 1/4 in., 39 cm
The inscriptions read: “This Torah crown is donated in eternal remembrance—may he never be forgotten—of Mr. Eliakum Judah ben Jacob, of blessed memory, and—not to mention the dead with the living—his wife, Mrs. Rachel Leah bat Isser, as well as their sons, daughters, and sons-in-law. [5]644 [1884].”
