square base with anthemia and engine-turned borders matched on the sconces, the sconces supported on leaf-applied branches, the central support with a later finial chased as bark spreading to branched spray, with a removable servant sconce held within a small niche, marked on base


Height: 14 ⅝ in., 37 cm

Johann August Gebhardt was born in 1790, became a master in 1817, and died in 1860. A Torah shield by him is in Dessau, in the Judische Gemeinde (Inv. S. 67). A large Torah pointer by him is in Berlin, in the Markisches Museum (S. 2399; Phot. o 667).
