the shallow rounded sides rising from a short foot to a gently incurved rim, covered overall with a lustrous black-brown glaze suffused with glittering ‘oil spots’ of circular and star-shaped form in silvery iridescence, the glaze to the exterior thinning to a lighter caramel-brown tone, falling short of the foot and revealing the buff-coloured body
