Description

Property sold to benefit Heads Together

A silver two-handle bowl, the mounts probably by Fabergé, St Petersburg, circa 1900

oval, the plain polished body probably replacing an original cut-glass bowl, the handles modelled as stylised Rococo dolphins, apparently unmarked, with the original Fabergé fitted silk and velvet-lined wood case with two empty compartments for two decanters, the cover with plaque inscribed ‘XXV / A. & O. Ahlsell / af / E.Nobel’

length 31.5cm, 12 1/2in.

Presented as a gift by Emmanuel Nobel to A & O Ahlsell

Two glass decanters with similar hinged fish mounts and engraved glass decorated with waves, in the manner of George Woodall for Webb, probably accompanied the bowl.
A pair of comparable decanters with red glass is in the Royal Collection (RCIN 100337).
