A gold-mounted hardstone snuff box, probably Berlin, circa 1760, with later elements


of oval form, the lid panel applied with a carved and partially-foiled hardstone and glass arrangement of fruit and different flowers, among them pink roses and lilies-of-the-valley, in the manner of Hoffmann, the waisted sides and stepped base carved from petrified wood from Potschappel or Naundorf near Dresden, wavy gold mounts, the rim elaborately chased with flowers interlaced with scrolls on a partially reeded ground, in velvet-lined leather case,
