the rectangular gilt body overlaid with finely engraved silver strapwork spreading from grotesque masks and terminating in dolphin and birds’ heads, bail handles, with imitation lock escutcheon, open crown finial, the casket opening by removing a hinge pin, the interior fitted with a cylindrical container for coins engraved with flowering foliage, and two compartments with flat lids each engraved with a vase of flowers, the outside base engraved with an embracing seated couple in a landscape with cupid in the sky aiming his bow, on four lion passant feet, apparently unmarked
