The 1970’s Heuer Autavia included the references 1163, 11630, and 11063. This trio of watches featured a bold, new case design with chunky integrated lugs. The 11630 features the now-iconic right-hand position of the chronograph pushers and the left-hand position of the winding crown, a telltale sign of the self-winding Chronomatic movement powering the timepiece. Heuer named their first iteration of the Chronomatic movement Caliber 11 followed by its derivative the Caliber 12, which beats at the heart of our present lot. The dial of our present timepiece is especially notable for its orange accents against a silvered background, affectionately coined the 'Orange Boy' by Heuer enthusiasts.
Sporting a recognizable shape, legendary movement, and a large case size that makes the timepiece incredibly modern, the vintage Heuer Autavia 11630 stands as an iconic piece of Heuer history.
