the front of the folding cover chased and engraved with foliate scrolls, applied with a silver-gilt crucifix decorated with dark blue, turquoise and white champlevé enamel, each panel with a dark green and red champlevé enamel border, the central panel depicting the Mother of God holding the young Christ, the left panel depicting St Peter with St Paul, the right panel depicting St Vladimir, with a Cyrillic inscription on the reverse dated 1904, struck to the lower front and reverse with maker's initials in Cyrillic, 88 standard
