Description
Taittinger, Comtes de Champagne, Blanc de Blancs 1996
u. 4x3cm, 1x3.5cm below foil, 1 slightly scuffed label, 5 torn and partially missing labels, 2 vintages obscured, 4 slightly corroded foils
Disgorged and tasted in 2014 from magnum, a wonderful, total class Champagne nose. A touch "reductive" at first, but I like that (as I do at the beginning of a great White Burgundy - it often denotes ultimate longevity). Myriad hedgerow aromas. Vanillin on the palate, backed up by creamy hazelnuts. Superb, streamlined stuff. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
