Description

La Tâche 1994

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

Côte de Nuits, Grand Cru

Good levels, excellent appearance, Swiss import back labels, consecutive bottle numbers 15640-15644, straw wrapped, owc lid damaged on top

La Tâche hides the comparative austerity of the 1994 vintage better than any other Burgundy, I feel. Luscious and deeply scented. Utterly more-ish. At 15 years old from magnum, this has a really aromatic scent with some meatiness. The tannins are really aromatic too, even orangey. Great black fruit, to the point of inkiness. Lines the interior of the mouth with thick layers of fruit. Even a touch of lemon on the finish. Very smooth and blackcurranty. Provenance:

Sourced from one of Europe’s most celebrated cellars, meticulously assembled by a renowned connoisseur with deep and long-standing relationships with the Domaine, this auction follows the unmitigated success of part 1 of the collection, sold in Hong Kong on Tuesday, 30 July. That sale stands among the finest and most comprehensive collections of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti offered globally in decades.

The London edition is particularly notable for its incredible depth of DRC stock, focusing on late 80s and early 90s vintages, with a stunning array of magnums and bottles of La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Échezeaux, and Échezeaux.

The vast majority of DRC from this revered European cellar are in their original wooden cases, with most still banded prior to inspection and purchased on release directly from the Domaine’s agent and representatives.
