Cabernet Franc 50%, Merlot 50%. 85% new oak. The Vauthiers are on the side of cold pre-fermentation maceration rather than extraction and this is the way I like it. In 2016, a fabulous red fruit nose, all smoke and class. So juicy, even a touch 'orangey' in the mouth, with such finesse of texture. Really lovely fruit, picked at the right time - the Merlot on 29 September and 2 October, the Cabernet Franc on 8 and 10 October. Sumptuous and opulent, while giving the impression of dancing on the palate. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
