60% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay. 16% went through malolactic fermentation. What an example of old vines on chalk, precise but also approachable, with similarities to 1996, but better, probably because they picked a week later. In 2019, the bouquet has become more nutty - cherry kernels. This had more time on the lees than the 1996, which gives the unbelievably full taste, superb texture, plus flavours of hazelnuts, lemons and yuzu. An almost eternal finish - hallmark Cristal.
