Founded in Antwerp in 2010 by Benoît Mintiens, Ressence has become known for re-imagining traditional watchmaking through mechanical ingenuity and modern design. Introduced in 2015, the Type 5 was the first mechanical dive watch to feature a completely oil-filled upper module, eliminating visual distortion underwater and allowing perfect legibility from all angles.
The model’s crownless construction is operated through a patented compression-lock case-back system, which rotates between winding, setting and locked positions. This innovative mechanism maintains the watch’s clean silhouette while ensuring water resistance to 10 ATM. The orbital display, showing minutes, hours, running seconds and oil-temperature indication, epitomises Ressence’s focus on intuitive reading and ergonomic form.
