The Dong Son culture was a late bronze age culture located in the northern region of present-day Vietnam, mainly established along the Red river which dates back to the first millennium BC.
The development of iron technique during that period helped to accomplish magnificent examples of metal-ware including copper-alloy basins which, along the typical bronze drums, contributed to make the Dong Son culture's renown.
Compare a copper alloy basin of the same form but with additional designs, such as the one in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, illustrated in Brown, Robert L. "Selections From the Southeast Asian Art Collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art." Arts of Asia 38 (3): 75-87 (May-June 2008).
