See L. Ginori Lisci, La Porcellana di Doccia, Florence, 1963, p. 49, where the author notes that most of a service bearing the Capponi arms remains at the Capponi family’s Villa di Monsoglio in Arezzo. A further teabowl and saucer from the service from in the Vivolo collection was sold at Sotheby’s, Milan, 13 November 2007, lot 196. Most recently a Doccia porcelain snuff box bearing the coat of arms sold at Bonhams, Paris, 16 April 2024, lot 151. When the present lot was exhibited in the 2001 exhibition at Lucca, d'Agliano noted that the service may have been ordered by Scipione Capponi (1680-1753), ambassador to Duke Francesco Farnese.
