Description

NIKE, NIKE SB DUNK LOW, SIZE 9

Rubber, Leather, Cotton, Synthetic

2022

In 2003, Nike auctioned a single pair of the Nike Dunk Low 'eBay' for charity, raising $30,000 for the Tim Brauch Foundation. For 15 years, the winner remained anonymous, and the samples of the eBay Dunk were intentionally cut to preserve the auctioned pair’s rarity. This event is now a pivotal moment in sneaker history.

In 2018, Sandy Bodecker, known as the "Godfather" of Nike SB, revealed that he was the original auction winner on Instagram, confirming, “I’m the dude that paid the auction money, it went to the Tim B memorial fund."

In 2022, in honor of Bodecker, Nike and eBay produced a commemorative release of the Nike Dunk Low Sandy Bodecker. A multi-part release, the Dunk rollout included 10 limited sets auctioned by eBay, as well as a general release of the Nike Dunk Low Sandy Bodecker.

The general release donned a patent leather upper, along with plastic paneling mimicking the cut-up Dunk from 2003. It also featured a photo of Sandy with his child on the left insole and a photo of a bare foot in the cut-up Dunk on the right insole.

The limited edition sets featured the Nike Dunk Low Sandy Bodecker, as well as a limited pair of Nike Dunk Low samples resembling the original auction pair. In commemoration, one shoe from the sample pair was cut up, and one shoe was preserved. The set also featured a commemorative saw and came in a skater-friendly box that pulls out into a skate ledge. Across the 10 lots offered on eBay, over $355,000 was raised for the Sandy Bodecker Foundation.

As the general release featured translucent panels in the upper and the special edition boxes included one intact shoe and one cut shoe, this fully intact example of the Nike SB Dunk Bodecker is incredibly rare.
