Description
NIKE, NIKE AIR JORDAN 6 RETRO, SIZE 11
Rubber, Leather, Cotton
2019
The Nike Air Jordan 6 Retro Travis Scott 'Olive' Friends and Family, created in 2019, is a rare edition from the highly sought-after Travis Scott collaboration with Nike. Featuring an olive and red upper, this exclusive version includes unique details such as Nike Air and Cactus Jack branding on the heels, and a special "TS-AJ6-00II00" branding on and around the pocket, marking its exclusivity for friends and family.
Sotheby’s believes this pair to be a “Friends and Family” pair that was customized post-production. The sneaker features general-release interior tagging, though showcases characteristics of the Friends and Family iterations, such as the etched coding on the exterior of the left shoe.
Notably, this pair showcases multiple iterations of the coding in slightly varied forms. On this example, one of the codes includes the number ‘19,’ likely referencing the year of release. It also features the codes printed on the laces and etched above the pouch on the left shoe, suggesting that this pair may have been used as a placement test by designers.
Scott originally debuted this model while performing at the Super Bowl 53 halftime show. The shoe combines a Medium Olive, black, Sail, and University Red colorway with a nubuck and suede upper, a small snap pocket on the collar, Cactus Jack embroidery on the heel, and a translucent tongue, heel tab, and glow-in-the-dark outsole.
Debuted during the 1991 NBA All-Star Game and designed by Nike icon Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 6 became an instant classic for the Jordan Brand. Known for its bold silhouette, the AJ6 introduced standout features such as its visible air unit, molded heel tab, perforated panels, and a reinforced toe cap, which provided both durability and style on the court.
Today, the Air Jordan 6 remains a beloved model among sneaker enthusiasts and collectors alike, serving as a canvas for high-profile collaborations with artists and brands like Travis Scott, Trophy Room, and Paris Saint-Germain.
