The Rolex reference 116610LN was introduced in 2010 as the improvement for the 16610 and was replaced by the 126610LN in 2020.
The 116610LN is a landmark in Rolex's history as it is the first "Sub Date" with a cerachrom bezel. It also features the chromalight lume, instead of the superluminova as well as an updated calibre 3135 with a parachrom hairspring. Its case was bulkier than the 16610 even if the 40mm diameter remained unchanged.
With the 116610LN, Rolex clearly made one of its most popular models enter the 21st century. It was also the last Submariner Date with the, often preferred, traditional 40mm diameter as its successor, the Ref. 126610LN has 1mm larger case.
