The Hall Family Pine Paint Decorated Dollhouse

Inscribed on the back A Birthday Present Cara & Theresa Hall from their Grandmama Hall Oct. 1st 1855. Also the letter G painted on back.

Height 59 1/2 in. by Width 37 in. by Depth 20 1/2 in.

Morgan James Hall (1800-1830) m. Elsie Lansing Oakey (1799-1884), Albany, New York;

Abraham Oakey Hall (1826 - 1898) m. Lydia A Nicholas (b. 1853), New York;

given as a birthday present to their daughters, Cara De La Montagnie Hall (1850-1938) and Maria Theresa Hall (1852-1891);

descended in the Hall family.

This dollhouse is an early 19th century cupboard that was subsequently paint decorated as a dollhouse in 1855. It descended in the family of Mayor Abraham Oakey Hall (1826-1898). Inscribed on its back is the name Cara for his daughter Cara de la Montagnie Hall (1850-1938) and Maria Theresa Hall (1852-1891). Cara married Thomas Holdup Stevens III (1848-1914) on April 29, 1903.
