Joannes Actuarius (ca. 1275-ca. 1328) was a Byzantine physician who drew on late antique sources and their Greek and Arabic commentaries for his writings on uroscopy; Actuarius was a title rather than a surname, granted to prominent physicians at the imperial court.


8vo (160 x 106 mm). Roman type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: *8 **2 A-Z8 a-b8 c4 AA-ZZ8 AAA-SSS8: 532 leaves (*8 blank). Woodcut Aldine device on title-page, woodcut initials. (Browning and foxing.)


binding: Contemporary limp vellum (168 x 123 mm), fore-edge flaps, manuscript author's name to spine and lower edge. (Binding slightly soiled and worn.)
