Description

JERUSALEM

TWO LETTERS TO THE COMMITTEE OF THE JEWS OF THE CITY OF JERUSALEM:

i) Yehudah, A.L., of the Hebrew Palestine Exploration Fund, letter signed, requesting additional security at the Western Wall to prevent the Arabs from continuing their work following a government decree, in Hebrew, 1 page, folio, headed stationery, 17 May 1920

ii) Pann, Abel, autograph letter signed, undertaking to employ Kurt Meier as a lithographer in the Bezalel University College of Art, in Hebrew, 1 page, 8vo, Jerusalem, 12 June 1924

The first of these letters refers to the first significant Jewish/Arab dispute over the Western Wall, when Jewish objections were made to repairs undertaken by the Arab authorities to the ancient structure.
