Dial: cream dial signed Cartier London, combination numeral dial with slim Roman and baton hour indexes, blued steel epée hands

Calibre: 9’’’ circular Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre movement signed European Watch and Clock Co. Inc., damascened Côtes de Genève decoration, lever escapement, 18 jewels, bi-metallic compensation balance, adjusted to temperatures and two positions, flat hairspring

Movement number: numbered 486’195

Case: 18k yellow gold rectangular case, rounded brancards, faceted cabochon sapphire-set crown, gold case back with vertical satin finish

Case number: hand stamped to exterior 37'930, • 8012 •, inside case back signed European Watch and Clock Co. Inc. Made in France, hand stamped 37'930, • 8012 •

Closure: brown unsigned leather strap and 18k yellow gold deployant buckle, twice with French eagle’s head assay marks, Edmond Jaeger punch marks and hand stamped 12’870

The Tank L.C. (Louis Cartier) was first introduced by Cartier in 1922. A ledger entry held by the Cartier Archives for an example of the model that was entered into stock on 30 September 1922, shows that it was initially described as a “Tank aux bords arrondis” - Tank with rounded edges. In 1924 the model was re-named the Tank Louis Cartier and is popularly referred to as the Tank L.C.
