Being the first serially produced Calatrava to feature an automatic movement with date complication, the present reference 3445 holds a special place within the lineage of time-only Patek Philippe. What makes this example so exceptional among its peers is the “Gübelin” stamp that sits inside the small seconds dial. As the most discerning collectors will appreciate, Calatravas with retail signatures are extremely sought as only a small proportion of the production received this coveted characteristic. Among them, the “Gübelin” retail signature dials have gained an almost cult following as certain collectors rave how the signature, thanks to the U-umlaut, is the most aesthetically pleasing and characterful of all signatures. The originally silvered dial has, over time, taken on a gold tone making this example even more handsome.
