Dial: cream dial signed Cartier, stretched black radial Roman numerals, inner chemin-de-fer minute track, blued steel epée hands

Calibre: 9’’’ circular calibre P838 movement signed Jaeger-LeCoultre, damascened Côtes de Genève decoration, lever escapement, 18 jewels, annular balance, adjusted to three positions, Kif Trior shock absorber

Movement number: numbered to main plate 1’862’500

Case: 18k yellow gold rectangular case, rounded brancards, gold screw-set bar lugs, beaded cabochon sapphire-set crown, snap-on case back

Case number: outside back hand stamped 51’254 and with French eagle’s head assay mark and [EJ] Edmond Jaeger punch mark, underside of upper lugs numbered 022 528

Closure: brown beige unsigned leather strap and 18k yellow gold deployant buckle, with French eagle’s head assay mark, [EJ] Edmond Jaeger punch mark and hand stamped 19’957

Our research indicates that the Tank L.C. Extra Flat (or Extra Plate) was produced between circa 1965 and 1980, with versions crafted in the London, Paris, and Swiss workshops. Most known examples were made in Switzerland for Cartier Paris, while those from the Paris workshop itself, such as the present watch, are far rarer. Notably, the case back is of friction-fitted snap-on type removing the need for screws set to the sides of the case. This design creates a smoother, uninterrupted sweep along the sides of the brancards. The later made Swiss workshop examples of this Cartier model have their case screws visible to the outside case backs.
