The Day-Date has always been Rolex’s spiritual flagship wristwatch line. Being the most prestigious and luxurious model, today it remains one of the only models that Rolex has never officially offered in stainless steel, and was the watch of choice for dozens of Heads of States, earning its distinctive bracelet the nickname ‘President’.

The present Day-Date contains a feature which today has become immensely collectible: the black onyx dial. Only a very small percentage of Rolex watches contain hardstone dials, and the bottomless look of the onyx coupled with a dial devoid of any indexes creates an extremely distinctive look that is coveted by collectors. Hardstone dials of all types are difficult to find without flaw, and the present watch indeed houses a pristine onyx dial.
