containing an oil painting of the Madonna and Child attributed to Onorio Marinari (1627-1715)

The attribution of this frame is based on the comparison with the decoration Luigi Valadier (1726-1785) designed for the Gabinetto Nobile at Chigi Palace, in Piazza Colonna, Rome, dating from 1765, which was commissioned for the marriage of Don Sigismondo Chigi and Donna Maria Flaminia Odescalchi in 1767.
The gilt bronze and copper decoration of this room display a similar contrast between the fragility of the naturalistic flourish of flowers and scrolls of leaves and the structural strength of classic ornamental motifs.
