A George II carved mahogany tripod table, third quarter 18th century, possibly by Robert Gillow & Son


the tilt-top on a columnar and acanthus carved stem, cabriole legs with acanthus carved knees terminating on claw and ball feet

108.5cm. high, 113cm. wide, 57cm. deep; 3ft. 6¾in., 3ft. 8¾in., 1ft. 10¾in.

Probably Henry Curwen (1730-1778) for Workington Hall, Cumbria and probably removed to Belle Isle, Windermere, in the 1930s when Workington Hall was given up;
Thence by descent.
A Schedule & Appraisement of the Household Goods and Furniture in Workington Hall which the late Henry Curwen died Proffered of, 1778, possibly one of the 'claw tables' listed in the Dining Room and Chintz Bedroom respectively, pp. 1 & 2 (Cumbria Archives, DCU/7/1);
