Interestingly there does not seem to be a formal record of Udo Jürgens receiving a "Goldene Kamera" award in 1978. There is footage of the 1987 ceremony and the presenter states he wishes Udo had received an award earlier. This is curious and the presentation of the 1978 award remains a mystery.

Officially, Jürgens won two ‘Goldene Kamera’ awards during his career. He received his first Golden Kamera in 1988 for the TV show ‘Heute Abend in Beijing’, and his second in 1995, when he was honored with the Golden Kamera for Lifetime Achievement in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to music and entertainment.

The ‘Golden Kamera Award’ (Goldene Kamera) is a prestigious German award ceremony that celebrates excellence in film, television, and entertainment. Founded in 1965 by the TV magazine ‘Hörzu’, the event became one of Germany's most esteemed honors, recognizing both national and international talent. Over the years, the Golden Kamera featured prominent categories like Best Actor, Best Actress, and Lifetime Achievement, with recipients ranging from local German stars to Hollywood icons. The awards were known for their distinct gold camera-shaped trophy, symbolizing the connection between artistic achievement and visual storytelling.
